Food Lion — One absence

I worked at Food Lion for 5 months and had two weather related absences. The first was excused because it was snowing as I was supposed to drive to work. The second absence happened a day after a snowstorm. My neighborhood didn’t get plowed during the storm and I couldn’t get my car out until after 1pm. I didn’t think there would be a problem, everyone seemingly liked me, I thought I proved I had great work ethic, I just struggle to communicate. The following day I went to work and was told that the truck had been cancelled, so it’s a backstock and conditioning day. Throughout the day I realized that my absence was a major problem that put my employment at risk and my reputation damaged. My boss even gave my a droopy stare from 30 feet away. While I was absent, they had talked about me inappropriately and in front of other associates and vendors, but they never said anything directly to me which I would have been open to. I worked the remainder of my week and they seemed to move on, one of my bosses even spoke casually to me, but I didn’t move on. I was upset, angry, very confused and felt like I had no dignity and certainly no trust in leadership. I didn’t dislike them personally but I knew I couldn’t continue to work with them, so a few days later I decided to stop coming in and have struggled with employment since.
