Booking.com — Boathouse Hotel Southampton

We were due to stay at this hotel on September 3rd.this year.We have stayed here many times before..I had reason to complain to the manager,next thing her son came to me and said .’You have upset my mum *****. Apparently she was crying in the office. The complaint I made was in a calm manner, and this seemed to be over reacting..The extra thing another member of staff came to me and said,I quote’pack your things and get out you fu… g old Hag’As you can imagine I was horrified I asked to have my money refunded for the room,and was told no..There were a lot of witnesses to this,but when it came to it,nobody knew anything..We found another hotel and as we did not know the area,the only place we could get was £250 per night,plus a taxi there,as my husband had a couple of drinks and did not want to drive..The taxi cost us £20,and the next morning the taxi to collect our car was double as it was Sunday £40..All in all it was a very expensive night..I have contacted the owner by phone,and wrote to him sending all our receipts.. He has not responded. Think he was annoyed because I involved the police ..I am 72 years of age and disabled,and the shock has been awful. I had intended getting a solicitor involved,but don’t want those any more money..Especially as no body came forward as witnesses. I have not put a review on yet,but if I do it will not be favourable..It is disgusting to be treated like this by hotel staff..I would at least like a refund from the Boathouse,and part of our expenses..We were going on a cruise next day and it was an upsetting incident..Susan Walker
