PayPal — Did not look into the claim further

Filed a dispute against a fraudulent eBay seller. My case was closed and no refund given. I purchased an item from eBay on 9/9/15. The next morning, 9/10/15, I received an email from eBay indicating that the seller had a compromised account and not to engage in any activity with them. I filed a dispute with PayPal for an unauthorized transaction, as the payment appears to have gone to an account contrary to the original sellers. PayPal received no reply to my dispute from the seller, but since my personal account had no evidence of being tampered with they closed my dispute and told me to contact my credit card company to deal with it. I sent a message to PayPal after learning of the decision on 9/16/15 but never got a reply. My credit card company has initiated a charge back for the purchase already, mostly I would like to know why I was given a generic dismissal with no explanation and why PayPal did not look into the claim further.
