Limited account access without giving any warning or reason. Feb. 4, 2020, I received an email from PayPal stating that my account has been permanently limited. I assumed it was a phishing scam, but after logging into my account, I realized it was in fact limited in a way that I could no longer print shipping labels, send money for payments, or transfer money from my PayPal account to my bank account. I thought there had to have been a mistake of some sort and finally found a number to call. I was greeted with an “All customer service reps are busy, but leave a number and we’ll call back in 2+ hours”. I left a number and waited. While I was waiting, I did a little research and what I found was astonishing! I couldn’t believe the number of people this has happened to and ALL of them were never told why their accounts were limited. Money that was still left in their accounts was taken by PayPal in some cases. How is that even legal? Without even a reason other than being told “Violation of User Agreement”. I waited for my return phone call and after explaining that I was locked out of my account and then asking for a reason why guess what I was told? “Violation of User Agreement!!” Ok, “What part?” I asked. I wasn’t given an answer, just like I found out everyone else hadn’t but was given the run-around. Nothing I asked was returned with a clear and concise answer. De I felt like I wasn’t being taken seriously and was being read a script. I have been a user of PayPal for 20+ years. Spent thousands and thousands of dollars using their services through online merchants that accepted PayPal. Bought and sold through eBay using their services to send and accept money. Used them for printing shipping labels on an almost daily basis once I found they offered that option. Sent and received money from family members (all while being charged a transfer fee). Everything that according to their User Agreement, is perfectly fine, but I find myself with a locked account without a clear and understandable reason why.
