Mercari — Refuses to file a claim

I submitted a request to file a claim against the carrier because my item was damaged in shipping. I made an error and put there wasn’t packing when there was packing. Mercari issued a return label, but that didn’t make sense because now the seller was gong to get a damaged item back. I asked the to cancel the return and to please submit the claim with the carrier. They canceled the rerun, but refused to do anything else. They will not submit a claim to the carrier and they are ignoring my messages. I’ve sent pictures of all the damage to the box, packing material, and the item, but they refused to file a claim. File the claim and refund my money. It isn’t the seller’s fault that the item was damaged in shipping. The seller told me this should have been covered under the seller protection thing and they didn’t want it back since it was damaged, but Mercari is refusing to do the right thing.
