John Anderson — Springfield, Missouri

His full name is John Adolph Anderson. He has resided in Willard, MO, but now resides in Springfield, MO. He claims to be an active member of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the U.S. Army and was a Lieutenant Colonel. However, he was honorably discharged in 1994. He claims to still be a Lt. Col. on active duty at Fort Leonard Wood. He makes claims of having anywhere from five to seven Purple Hearts. He also claims to have been awarded the Bronze Star. I met him on a dating website. His emails and telephone calls started making me suspicious of his claims. I was advised of a website called P.O.W. Network. This website exposes people making fraudulent claims of military service, accomodations, etc. He is listed on their website. He was never assigned to Fort Leonard Wood. He has never been through Airborne training and he has NEVER been awarded any Purple Heart or Bronze Star. When confronted about this information, he would email me as though he was in a hospital in Fort Benning, Georgia. He pretended to be a Captain/Doctor in the U.S. Army and would give me “medical updates” on his condition. However, the email address he was sending “medical updates” from was his own email address. He has made so many claims about his military service, that a novel could be written. He is also on Casenet.com for a restraining order that was filed by his ex-wife. He is very pleasant to talk to, but after a while, his military service stories become grandiose. Also, he lies so often, he can not remember what lies he tells. When confronted about his lies, he fakes some medical condition or becomes very verbally aggressive. Also, he will email and post pictures of himself on dating websites in a military uniform. What is hilarious is that the uniform he poses in is so outdated. He also has difficulty telling the truth about his age. He is getting close to 70 years old. However, on these dating websites, he will claim to be in his mid-50’s. To our military men/women who proudly serve this country, thank you. However, this guy is a sham and uses the military to boost his low self-esteem and to solicit women.
