Google Phones — My Google Pixel 3 camera constantly crashes

My Google Pixel 3 camera constantly crashes. It takes 1-2 pictures at a time until it crashes then I have to re-start it which is very inconvenient. Order date#: June 24, 2019, 02:19 PM Product: Google Pixel 3 Payment Amount: $752.83 Payment Method: Visa Credit Card ending in **** My major complaint today is the Google Camera App CONSTANTLY CRASHING. For me, I may be able to take photos as long as the app is open. However, being that I can’t have my app open indefinitely, once I exit the app and try to re-open, it will crash. It does not work with any apps that integrate with the camera (Facebook, Yelp, Instagram), it will only show a black screen OR crash the app. Switching camera modes crashes the app. Switching from back camera to front crashes the app. The reviews of Google’s camera app in the Playstore is all the evidence you need to see that many, many people are dealing with a camera that constantly crashes and is losing its features. A huge number of features have been lost with their latest update in November. My main complaint is crashing. Here is a link to the reviews, and I recommend filtering by 1-Star Reviews. Here are a couple of examples by other Pixel users related to crashing, mostly from Pixel 3 users although even the users of the brand new Pixel 4 are complaining about a broken camera too: “Still not even opening to crash 99% of time. Not only do i effectively not have a camera any longer, it impacts mobile banking- check deposit, and every other app that uses camera. I can’t get around it at all. Pixel 2XL. It’s been MONTHS. Fully updated. I’ve tried to roll it back and nothing works. How is this a thing for a company like Google?? Running pixel into the ground really” “Seems like a recent update is causing issues on Pixel 3. At times when opening the camera app it displays a black screen instead of the typical camera feed. The overlay of app buttons are still visible but pressing the take photo button does nothing. Doesn’t matter which camera–front (selfie) or bac…” “PIXEL 3, Not sure if it was the camera update or android 10, but it’s broke, stabilization and focus, Pixel 3, same as everyone else tried the usual to try and fix, can’t believe this was released, bought this phone to take on holiday in a few days because my old phones pictures weren’t good enough.UPDATE, so Google sent me a replacement, about a 10 day turn around to get replacement, but now I’m afraid to update it to Android 10 because it looks like the problem us still ongoing.” “If I were able to give a zero, I would. I have had a serious issue with my camera crashing, not working, etc. Same as many others. I have repeatedly contacted Google Support on the issue, with little to no help, on the same troubleshooting given every time. None of which works. I am getting a new phone soon, but definitely will not be going back to any of the Pixels.” “My Pixel 3 XL has camera issue where the it shows black screen even with all the camera app function still display (like shutter button, photo, video, night mode). Only way i found to get it work is to restart, although i can get it to work at first then after i close the app, launch it back, the screen turns black again. Tested this on Safe Mode, still the same issue. Unbelievable. I believe this is a major software or OS issue. Please help us!” Google is pushing the problem under the rug and keeps releasing more, poorly-functioning products. This is a really bad business practice, and it is time that Google acknowledges the problem and fixes the issue for existing customers. We paid close to if not over for these phones that barely work. There are a myriad of issues with the phone like poor call quality, poor battery life and lagging, but because the camera is the main feature that attracts buyers, I mostly would like Google to acknowledge the POORLY FUNCTIONING CAMERA issue and offer a solution such as phones with working cameras or REFUNDS.
